Storyline

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted
by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and
an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster
would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the
story. "In the Heart of the Sea"
reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

The
story is retold through the recollection of the sole survivor of the
expedition. The story is engaging and captivating, because it portrays
rivalry, greed and a haunting struggle for survival beautifully. The
first half is the lighter bit, even then there are lots of emotional
bits to chew on. I have never thought about why people join these
expeditions, but this film tells us convincingly not to ask questions
about it. The scenes of stormy seas are good because they are
convincing, and because they are finally adequately lit up that viewers
can see what is happening. Towards the end, the film gets very
emotional, and it touched me to the point of tears. The ending if
satisfying and I really enjoyed watching this film.
This film tells the
story of a farmer's son who is born to be a captain of the sea. He and
the blue blood captain clashes at sea during a whaling expedition, but
their rivalry changes when greed and then survival takes precedence.

it is the best movie.
